The mdf church I designed & painted:

A reasonable effort that will appear from my ECW games to WW2.

A fine example of scratch-building in mdf, well done donald!

What tool do you find works best to cut this material, especially for those large and impressively-shaped church windows...not to mention the intricate window inserts?

You mistake my abilities.

The process was I designed it on paper - based on an existing church in Normandy & scaled it down to 1/76.

I then took the design & measurements to a small chap who owns a laser cutter. He cut the pieces out and then, somewhat annoyingly, assembled it.

The problem was my plan to install "stained glass" (photocopied transparencies) came to nought because I couldn't get inside to glue them on. To disassemble it would have certainly ended in breakage.

C'est la guerre. It's a wargaming model.

Base coat was a dark granite grey, nuln oil wash than extensive dry-brushing using a light, sea grey. The base was the usual dry-brushed coarse sand. The doors (& the floor on the top of the tower you cannot see) was etched by the machine so I masked them off then later put a sepia wash on them.

Nice church, the traceries in the tower look great.

Pity about the windows, if you cut holes in the base could you fit the stained glass from below?
