My first 3D

SPEIRA grants a discount if you free
the figure from the cast yourself.
It may amuse some here, but for
me it was the first time.
And if you've never done it before...

Enormous amount of preparation goes in to creating various channels but I never thought it was this extensive. knowing where the channel ends and the figure begins isn't always the easiest thing to know so I'd imagine making sure before you snip is most important factor. Any chance all the extra plastic is reusable? I saved sprues until I had several boxes with no possible use. I made reins for my latest cavalry unit using old zvezda sprues and must say there must be easier materials to work with.
Cheers,

I didn't throw any of it away.
Maybe I can actually use it again.
I'm a bit shocked at the waste of material.
The figure could be made again from the waste.

It looks like it’s imprisoned in there!

Happier upon its release .

I hope your fingers are intact.

Best wishes,

Chris

I'm puzzled. I have a 3D printer and I have never had to print an overall frame. Not at all sure why they bother, apart from protecting the print in transport.

think this might be a good reason, because without they have to pack every figure seperately. And nevertheless some bayonets from the ACW range broke - most delicate details of cause.

It is the mean reason, protection. I have some figures of Speira looking like that elephant in the first pictures. Didn't start with removing the protection yet. Did it get of easy Konrad?

What can I say?
Everything is possible if you know how.
You definitely have to be very careful.
Take your time.

To remove supports that have been cured then best approach is to soak in warm water first. Normally I remove as many supports as possible before curing (either in UV light or sunlight)

As I'm sure you've seen, there's an interesting discussion on the Strelets' forum about 3d printing:

Frankly, I admire those who are moving down this path but the complexity has certainly given me pause & I'm not sure I'll ever attempt it myself.

I think it is exact reason and I must say it is very clever solution for transport.
