Neapolitan Velites of the Guard

Posted by Rosbif on 03 Jun 2015, 08:38

Here's Franznap's wonderful Neapolitan Velites of the Guard. They're my first unit of my new Neapolitan project based on the order of battle from the Battle of Tolentino 1815.

Great detail. Don't want to sound critical but seems a little heavy on the brown wash.

great work as usual, I will be happy to contribute to your Neapolitan army project with the sets you still miss, and soon will be available some cavalry, the line Chevaulegers and the guard Chevaulegers / Guard du corp

Thanks all.

The flash and close up has exaggerated the effect of the wash, but I'm happy with the results. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but I like to aim for a grimy campain look for my figures.

Like them a lot - although I was expecting some uniforms in pink, some in white and some in brown... ;-)

There's a series on British TV at the moment called "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell" which features a (weird magical fantasy) representation of the Peninsular War - there's some great uniforms and scenes in it. I only mention it because three Neopolitan soldiers fighting with the French were 'resurrected' from the dead in a recent episode. It's that kind of a TV programme...

Anyway, I can assure you that your figures look a lot better than those reanimated corpse ones! :-D

@ Marvin - I'll have to watch out for that when it comes to Australia! I've found the book it was based on in my local library, so I'll give it a read. Thanks for the heads-up!
