Roman Baths (with a nudity warning)

Hi everybody,
finally, a new project is finished. It’s a scene showing the swimming pool of a Roman Bath, called by the Romans the “piscina“ (fish pond). To be precise, it is the women’s section of the thermae, so be prepared for some nude females (I’m sure you guys can handle this without getting a heart attack or something).







This is a triple first for me: 1) The first time I have been using nude figures (some are by Phersu, others by Imperial, to be obtained via Hagen Miniatures). 2) The first time I have done an indoor scene in a doll-house-like diorama. 3) The first time I have tried the ingenious method for creating water surfaces that was presented by Wolfgang Meyer and his team some time ago. It makes use of a slab of clear acrylic glass, onto which the water structure is modeled, see for instance here.

@Peter: I used the “Clodius method“ and dressed as one of the female servants to get myself into the baths (there was a famous scandal when the villain Clodius smuggled himself into the secret rites of Bona Dea, an exclusive all-female affair).

@Konrad: This is acrylic glass with Vallejo Still Water for the structure. There are several brands of water effects for modeling, and they all claim their stuff becomes “crystal clear“ upon drying – well, Vallejo Still Water really does.

@Roland: Yes, the surfaces were designed at the computer and printed on paper, glued onto plywood. I used some special paper with a marble texture, to get more structure. The half-columns are resin casts by Imperial Modellbau.

It is pleasant to me! In addition to the wonderful sculptures by Leo execution dioramas - very good! Conveys the atmosphere of large areas in the interior. Efect water and body painting - also at a high level!
