Some new pieces

Posted by Bramble15 on 12 Aug 2015, 01:29

Hi everyone, seems like forever since I posted any photos of what I have been working on. I think the best way to do this is with 1 or two posts. So without further delay,

Random figures based on mini wooden blocks!

The black knight reminds me of the one from Monty python. ....just a flesh wound...hahaha. Top notch painting.
Love the Romans....tight composition tells a story of battle. Same for the Templars....very cool.

That Black Knight is amazing. He's all black but a realistic, armor and clothes black. All of those are quite nice. Bases are perfection.

Outstanding work all around, and yes, the Black Knight is my favorite as well.

I'm going to go for the Swedish figure - is that a Strelets? And what do you use for snow?

Again, thanks to all for the kind comments.

@Marvin - yes indeed it is a Strelets. As that era is not my favorite there are quite a few individual poses that I like, this one being #1. For snow I use elmers white glue, baking soda and a little water. I mix the glue and baking soda together with water and get a nice thickish consistency. Then I apply with an old brush. Mainly I get alot ont he brush and let it drip onto the area where I want it to go. Once it is in place and looks like I want it I sprinkle dry baking soda across the top. Not too much, just enough to look at least a little like powder.

I have messed around with other snow processes and this is the easiest I have found that gives the look I want.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, it looks really good. I may try that out sometime - possibly when I get back to my Strelets Russo-Turkish War of 1877...

Great painted figures! Love them all but the Livonian knights! It's the white that does it for me! ;-)
