Nappy Cavalry Project Regt #9 - Silesian Hussars

Hope you're not getting tired of seeing these Nappy cavalry regiments... because here's another one! I've returned to Waterloo 1815 and their Prussian Hussars, using their other Prussian Hussar set this time http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1329.

I've gone for the 4th (1st Silesian) Hussars, purely because I couldn't resist tackling a cavalry regiment wearing brown uniforms...

Great job! What paint did you use for the yellow/gold of the braiding and cuffs? I really like the way it reacted to the wash you used. BTW what wash did you use?

Thanks everybody. There's a few more regiments still to come this year and then I'm planning to end with an end of year "parade" of those regiments.

There's going to be a special guest there too (when he's painted), together with his personal escort...

Ah, you very nearly said it yourself! I use Vallejo Game Color "Gold Yellow" 007 on the braiding, it's a nice bold shade of yellow to use. I only very lightly added a wash to the braid itself, mainly just relied on dry brushing on the yellow to reveal all that braiding. For the figures, I start with just a dark black wash and then add progressively lighter dry brushing for the highlights.

Only constructive criticism i can offer is that 20 seconds with a scalpel/sharp knife removing mould lines before you start painting would make a huge difference to the finished figures!

Guilty as charged, especially on those horses. Just lazyness really!

I am so tired of your nappy cavalries that I bought one myself (italery French dragoons)! I am so tired of all those horses that I plan to buy another set (and wonder if anyone will deliver to Togo). And I still wondering when this project is over and I could see all figures lined up: you'll need a panorama camera, I am sure This is a wonderful project, it won't be tiring never ever

I'm planning to paint maybe 3 or 4 more regiments which will take me to the end of 2015. There's a grand military review then planned to take place before Christmas with all the regiments present. I'll be painting a "special guest" who will be in attendance with his personal bodyguard...(I think we all know who). Will post pics of all this around Christmas time!
