First Napoleonics in 20 years

Posted by davbenbak1 on 05 Nov 2015, 15:26

Found a box of old Revell British infantry from the 90's and thought I'd give it a go. Oh to have the eyes and hands of a younger man! Didn't dare and attempt the straps and cross belts on the back packs. You can see how my hand painted Union Jack turned out. I need to do some more work on the shading of the folds as well. Don't see how I could carve the flag from around the officer's head but I still might try to paste on a paper flag version.

All in all, I liked this kit. There were no flank company figures included so I painted them all as center companies. Next is a new box of Hat peninsular British infantry but it may have to wait for completion until I can get my hands on the command box.

Hello sir! Bravo!

My eyes aren't what they used to be - but I can still paint the way I want to with optivisors. It really makes things so much easier, and much more fun!!!

Also - if you're ready to have at it with the x-acto knife, you totally can trim away the flag from the standard bearer and use a paper flag. I did it and swapped heads and I was really pleased with the result. You can see a picture of it here:

I really think that you have borrowed mine Union Jack! Cool to see! Also like these figures. Maybe all the different companies that turned me off Nappies.

John,I would personally leave the flag be. After 20 years what you have there is an original item, and figures of pure nostalgia. I love it all. :-D

Jon, your figures are fantastic. If you could share some painting tips I started a post on the "Modeling" forum on whether to prime in white or black. I really like the definition around the lace and straps.
