Imperial Heavy Field Artillery

Hi boys and girls,

Here we have the latest reinforcements for my ever growing TYW armies.

The two big guns can be Culverins or Sakers (plastic soldier review dixit) while the smaller one could be a demi-cannon (24 pdr). Anyhow, these were some of the biggest field artillery pieces of the period and, to my eyes, they look impressive enough.

Guns and figures are from Mars. While the figures aren’t amongst their best, the guns are much better that anyone previously released by this brand.

Very nice painting work again. The grayish and brownish colors you use are very convincing and realistic for this period... actually for almost every period.
Many of use seem to forget that, even when clothing's were originally dyed in bright colors, these colors were of natural (not chemical) base and tints were lost during the many years of wearing because of sun, rain, sweat, smoke and dirt.
Let your work be an example for all those other painters that too often choose a chemical achieved color straight out of the Citadel color pots

(But don't forget to paint the sides of the bases and your work needs more (day) light when photographing it so we can see it a little better)

Thanks for posting. I've been eyeing those sets for some heavy position guns for my games. Great job on some not-so-great figures. Love the muted colors. What did you dip or wash them with?

Davbenbak1, sorry for taking so long to answer you: I wash my figures with a mixture of a very dilute Black-brown enamel and matt cote.
