Polybian Roman DBA

Thank you very much for taking time to post comments about my work!

Konrad, looking at your painting I see no raison for you to be jealous; maybe it’s me who should be green of envy while looking at your Romans…

davbenbac1, I did mixed Odermars figures as well. I like variety (even if they don’t mix very well or I break the smart appearance of disciplined units) because I’m more chaotic that my painting can suggest and I wouldn’t be interested in painting figures all wearing exactly the same uniform and same pose. That would totally kill my interest on the subject.
And yes, I do some washing and here you can find a more detailed explanation of how my system works viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4016

Bramble15, thank you very much. My style has changed a lot since I’m posting here, mostly because your comments push me to improve my technique.

Brilliant!

I could look at pictures of your work all day! You manage to arrange the figures in such a way that makes them seem alive with movement. If you kept looking long enough I think you'd catch them at it!

Your painting style is so clean but still imparts a dusty 'campaign' look that I'm a real fan of. I really enjoy your submissions to the forum! :-D

Dear Despertaferro,

Every time I search the internet for gathering information about ancient fortifications and battledress, I run into amazing DBA armies and these are very often painted by you.

Take this Polybian Roman army for an example, especially the fourth (last) picture set in this topic is topclass painting work and very nicely lighted too. Not only the color scheme, also the details and shading and bases is all excellent.

Man your work is so great, you painted so many armies already, how is this possible? Are you a fulltime painter? How do you gather all this information in your book collection and in your head? You are surfing through the very corners of history all the time and every army looks as historical correct as the next one.

I wish some of your DBA armies could face my buildings and figures one day on a gaming table.
