Hat French light infantry

Posted by davbenbak1 on 17 Apr 2016, 19:18

I used these five boxes to make four battalions of French light infantry plus skirmish stands

I based my battalions on three 2X2 inch wooden bases with each base having 9 figures so 18 figures total. By contrast my British infantry are on three bases but 8 figures per base, two deep for a total of 24 figures. Here is an example of a battalion in line, in column and skirmish stands.

Here's a close-up of the figures from each angle:

Always impressed to see a Napoleonic army being put together. Good detail and use of colour.

Out of interest - do you make all the bases yourself or pre-purchase them?

Nicely done - I have the same sets in my stash for a Borodino project I have yet to start, also four battalions but I'll be basing for Lasalle (4 bases, 6 figures per base plus plus 4 skirmishers).

Is the flag from warflags? I have yet to decide if I will include flags as light infantry regiments were not supposed to carry eagles in the field after 1806 but apparently did anyway.

@Marvin Yes, I made them out of bass wood bought from the local hobby shop. I realize the flocking is average at best. Just a quick coat of green craft paint and a sprinkling of woodland scenic flock mixed with wood shavings and cat litter for rocks.

@MikeRC97 Yes, the flags are a download from the "Warflags" site. A very complete listing for the French but only the British units that were at Waterloo. I'll have to source them from somewhere else. Any recommendations?
