Esci Opel Blitz and Zvezda Flak 38

Posted by huib on 26 Jan 2017, 17:48

This is a conversion of the 1/72 Revell/Esci Opel Bliz with Flakvierling boxing (H2353). But as I didn't use the Flakvierling at all this is basically the old Esci Opel Blitz kit, still issued today by Italeri. I added a Zvezda Flak 38 to create a German Luftwaffe anti-aircraft vehicle as it could have been found in the Lybian desert in 1941, employed to protect airfields and other Luftwaffe installations against air attack.

Four modified figures are added, two from Zvezda, one from Esci and one from Matchbox.

This is the poorest representation I have ever seen of an Opel Blitz.
From the damaged front lamp to the lost side protection for the motor.
The cut roof and finally a smaller weapon and not to forget scratches everywhere.
You are a brave man!

Very great build huib.
With the huge amount of additionally parts and bits. As a small example the unit sign at the left front fender.
Also the nice paint figures. With the Airfix man who show strait away and team Zvezda look into the air.
:yeah:

Excellent work Huib! Love it!

@Erik: Nice comment! :-D But I have to correct you. There isn't an Airfix figure involved! Zvezda, Esci and Matchbox is written in the post of Huib! ;-)

I remember constructing that ZVEDA gun, which is so fragile one has to treat it like rare glass.
I love everything about this bright shabby conversion. BB

What a fantastic little dio!!! Love it. Your painting and display are awesome and the whole thing fits in a nice little package. Well done! BTW its very subtle but I love the fact that the wheels are turned to the right and there are other tire tracks. Very well done.

Fantastic! A great diorama! The Opel Blitz is the eye-catcher. Nice is the free view into the engine compartment! Paint damage, defective lamp and and and ... everything looks worn out and damaged. Great!!!! :yeah:

Huib,

Beautiful build. This is the model you mentioned in another post that you used the Zvezda Flak?

Great job on that Opel Flitz and FLAK 38. Those men are all meant to be Luftwaffe, correct? I like your conversions.
