PSC desert 25pdrs

Posted by Fire at Will on 21 Jan 2017, 16:35

The first kits of my Plastic Soldier Company kickstarter have been finished. From front to back, these are a replacement 25pdr battery (two guns, quads & limbers) to replace my old Airfix battery; a pair of 17pdr "Pheasants" and a battery of 18/25pdrs for the early desert war.

Both the Pheasants and 18/25pdrs are made up from from the kit left-overs, The wheels were, I think, from an old RAF emergency set. I widened the axles on the Pheasants to made them look better and this made them fit on the Airfix traversing circle.

The open roofs gave a little problems as the fit was not too good and the inside needed to be paired down as there were locating tabs on both them and the sides. Some spare seats were added inside so it didn't look like an empty box.

The quad look better as the old and aged ones from Airfix. So far I can see.
How about the figures? PSC figure are too big for my taste in 1/72.
Are these in the same PSC line or are they a little bit smaller?
Or is it possible for you to put a few Airfix 8 Army soldier beside of the base to the PSC 25pdr crew.
To show as a comparison in size?

Dangerous looking battery you have build and paint. Presented on a desert plane.
I see the Axis force start to flee.

Apologies for the threadomancy, I'm starting up the desert, and have been looking for inspiration. Do you use these for wargaming, or are they primarily for display?

Very much for wargaming.

Peter the base colour is Humbrol pale stone enamel, Then a soft tone wash, then dry brushed with an acrylic mix of sand (63) and white

Wiking, the PSC figures are slightly larger than the Revell/Airfix/Strelets infantry that I use, but similar the the Italeri/Esci gunners that I already have for four other gun/quads.
