Posted by Mart17 on 02 Sep 2020, 10:50

Hi, so I finally finished my latest project the Basilic, which was a medieval super heavy bombard used during siege of Constantinople in 1453

You can watch the video to see the making it from scratch

Hope you like it, I'm already thinking about starting another project :)

Magnificent! With a whole day's worth of cannon balls on hand too. I read it could only fire 3 times in a day due to slow heat dissipation of the barrel.

Fantastic work, Mart17. I don’t know what I like best, whether the diorama itself or the video of its making.

My best congratulations. :yeah:

Santi.

Yes, they had to use olive oil to cool it down :)

Thousands of gallons of it, just for one cannon to fire a couple of shots. Talk about extravagant defense spending. Plus the cannonmaker was paid 4x his asking price to make the guns. The Ottomans had some deep pockets!
