East German T-55

Posted by panzerman825 on 15 Jan 2021, 13:24

Greetings fellow miniature painters. I return with the counterpart of my M-48. It's an East German T-55 with accompanying troops. This was my final entry into the Youtube group build....NATO vs Warsaw Pact.
Image
The kit is from Italeri in 1/72 scale. It was built stock. I only added the crew figures.

Image
The guard shack and fence are scratchbuilt.

Image
The border barrier, sign, and tank obstacle are from Hasagawa in 1/72 scale.

Image
Vallejo acrylic paint was used throughout the project.

Image
The ground troops are from Italeri, Warsaw Pact troops set, in 1/72 scale.

Image
The base is cork covered with Woodland Scenics ballast and earth. The foliage is by JT Designs.

Image
Showing two opposing forces in one nation made the subjects very compelling. I enjoyed this YT group build. I hope you find it interesting as well. Any thoughts, questions, and/or constructive criticisms are welcomed. Thanks, Bill

And once more a neat build of a not often seen theme in 1/72.

The Steel helmet of your well painted soldiers are going back to 1943 / 44.
That was a new German steel helmet (M 45) easier to build with less material used but did not go into mass production.

Your nice build T 55 is a further development of the T 54 that`s four runner was the T44.
The T44 was a development during WWII of the well known T 34.

T 34 ! Checkout the actual (15.01.2020) production line at the huib Factory NO: 50 (LC, Low Countries) :-D

Nice work from you.
The DDR trees are empty of green. The surface around it look poor.
The trees on the (I interpret) West Germany side are full of green as the surrounding area !

I like ideas like that to underline in a simple but effective way the whole Dio, situation.

:yeah:
