Dragon Rampant in 1:72

Posted by Mr_White on 01 Feb 2022, 18:07

More of my 1:72 work can be found over on my blog. I spent most of 2021 doing 1:72 near-retro-future dystopia, and that was before I joined this site, so that work isn't captured at Benno's Forum.

There's examples of Dark Alliance zombies, Northstar Gaslands gangs, Citadel Dark Future models, Elheim post-apoc, Reaper Bones robots, and Mage Knight repainted plastics all for 1:72

I'm impressed and very interested in the Dragon Rampant rule set. Where can that be found? My oldest son is very in to fantasy gaming (D&D) however I have many boxes of Dark Alliance figures and a large collection of dragons. He also received the latest issue of Hero Quest which we played when they were kids. Check out the Dark Alliance Centaurs, those are very nice figures in addition to the Minotaurs. I just want to get with my kids (who are now 40-ish) and play some games! Thx for helping show the way.

Dragon Rampant is an easy to play ruleset for 4-10 units of fantasy warriors from any maker by Daniel Mersey based on his Lion Rampant rules for medieval gaming. Both available from Osprey.

The * Rampant series of rules have been the most inspiring set of rules I've come across since Blood Bowl 3rd edition in the early 90s. I love them and they've rekindled my desire to do fantasy battles. They're written very clearly with a humorous and joyful approach.

I highly recommend Dragon Rampant and hope you and the kids get to enjoy it. My own son is 15 (I'm 47 and I too played Heroquest as a kid) and I'm hoping to get plenty of games with him in the coming years before he moves out.

EDIT: One of my goals with getting into Dragon Rampant is to do something that's fast-to-the-table and low cost. This ruleset and 1:72 scale make both possible and the fact that the rules are great is just icing.
