Now for some really colourful tanks, a Renault Schneider CA1 and a Saint-Chamond. both are 3D printed and have been scaled up from 1/200 to 1/76.


The most obvious flaws in scaling are the hotchkiss machine guns, which are quite crudely modelled so that they are robust in 1/200.

Certainly very colourful, and a fine paint job on those slightly-tricky multi-coloured French camouflage schemes. The 3D prints themselves look pretty good, and I guess that the over-large Hotchkiss barrels might be swap-able with finer plastic rod or stretched sprue ones?

Yes just a matter of cutting them off, but I also need something robust so some surplus soft plastic French MMGs (if I had any) would be the ideal way to go. Since they are for a WW1 test game I decided to wait and see how much use they get.

As already mentioned colorful tanks.


From a time nobody really know how to make a tank.

The front of the small tank look very similar to the front of a ship.
To get better off road ability.
The big one with the overhanging front and rear look like the opposite for of road ability.

Vulnerable for artillery right from the beginning and still today.

Quite good result, this enlargement. But indeed with the machineguns and the tracks you miss detail.

The Saint Chamond is one of my favourite WW1 tanks: huge, impressive and very ineffective.
