20mm contemporary 82nd Airborne

These are mostly Xan figures from Empress Miniatures. The platoon has 4 9-man squads and an HQ element.

Weapons squad has 2 javelin gunners and 2 M240 gunners as well as their assistants

I gave each rifle squad a designated marksman with M110

HQ has a platoon leader, sergeant, radio operator, and an attached forward observer (with the larger antenna)

The seated gunner is from Elhiem, and the standing guy is a conversion.

Wow. Beautiful figures, beautifully painted. Camouflage has to be one of the greatest challenges for miniature painters. Yours truly is more comfortable with tartan but you’ve carried this off impeccably. Also love your base work. Congratulations!
Ps/ Just question if a dark wash over the finished uniform might run into the creases and give an even more impressive effect! But please before you experiment with this technique varnish your mini first. That way if it doesn’t improve your miniature you can simply clean it off - without destroying your lovely camouflage.

Not my topic but cool paintjob, and I agree with k.b. concerning the camo.

The camo is masterfully done. I always found with my WWII minis that often executing the camo effectively made it difficult to play up the folds in the fabric,
There’s a real dusty, dirty look to these figures that I quite like. :yeah: :yeah:

These look very good indeed. The figures are excellent, and your painting is very convincing, giving these modern-day warriors a realistic appearance. Well done!

Cammo is fantastic. Bases and choice of colors too.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried some washes, but have to keep it very subtle to prevent hiding the camo. I need to experiment some more though, as I agree some figures can benefit from additional definition.

You could try priming them in black and leaving the tiniest creases unpainted. Time consuming technique but it can work in some scenarios.

I like them the way they are. I think when you use a wash on these figures you will ruin the cammo, which is excellent in my opinion. ;-)
