Imperial Riflemen Thirty Years War

Posted by ells10 on 12 Jul 2022, 16:22

As most people are now aware after viewing my many posts, I have a large Thirty Years War collection of figures. Some of the figures painted were as a result of seeing an image in a book, one of the books I utilized is the Men-at Arms, Imperial Armies of the Thirty Years War (1) published by OSPREY.
In this book there is an image of a rifleman or Jager, who were recruited among experienced huntsmen and marksman, primarily from wooded and Alpine regions and were deployed in small groups.
The following photos are my version of these troops. Figures from Tumbling Dice, SHQ & Les Higgins.

Very nice. Really impressed by such a large and diverse set of armies for the campaign.

I never know, that in this period of warfare the armies had marksmen already.
