Swedish Dragoons Thirty Years War

I’ve been neglecting my photos so here is a bumper group, three Swedish Dragoon units. Figures from Tumbling Dice, Revell, A Call To Arms, SHQ.

Ah, I knew it would only be a matter of time before more of your vast collection graced this Forum.

Very nice figures, and although the Tumbling Dice (and other metal?) figures are much chunkier than the slender Revell sculpts, they seem to mix in reasonably well in these pictures.

I'm not sure that Swedish dragoons would charge around with the large white standard here, but it is an impressive flag nonetheless. Where is it from?

Just a thought: These chaps seem to have trumpeters but no drummers? I'm not sure that Swedish (or any other) dragoons of the TYW would have brass instruments...?

Now, Finnish light horse on the other hand.......and the men in blue coats could very well be just such a unit.

This period is not my strong point but looking at the last few photos I can’t help but remember “ The FlashinG Blade” French tv series from my childhood in the sixties . In particular the rearing horse of the officer evokes memories of the charging introduction of the series…… and even the first few words of the theme song come easily to mind ….. “You’ve got to fight for what you want, and all that you believe………”. If one considers it metaphorically speaking I’d say it’s an interesting view of life……. Unfortunately here we are in 2022 and our Ukrainian brothers are fighting a war, defending their homes, their land from this tyrant Putin that the Russians can surely never win!
My thoughts are with Ukraine.

Sorry to digress ells but back to your figures. They are a fascinating collection of beautifully painted miniatures, extremely well composed and mix very nicely together.

Congratulations, and yours truly intends to research this period much more.
