Unfortunately I am still waiting for the grass, bushes and trees for the diorama. But I have already tried out photo settings for the diorama with backgrounds.

Thank you Steve Cheney for the nice pictures of Shiyane Mountain.

Is that the background that will be used as display background in the museum?

Nice test again!

I received three beautiful photos from Steve Cheney. From the three pictures I assembled a panorama photo with Photoshop. This will be mounted in a size of 1.60 x 0.80 meters as the background of the diorama in our museum. For this photo I did it digitally with Photoshop.

Yes ... with the background image I initially thought it was the original building.
The roofing in particular intensifies this effect even more.
and so the model does indeed look extremely realistic. :P

This diorama just keeps getting better! And the meshing of your excellent terrain into the photographed background is seamless.

As much as I like the figures, the terrain just captures my eye.
That grass in particular, is just perfect.

It is fantastic, but I might give a bit of critic on these last pictures. I see that there aren't enough zulu's! You need thousands of them!

Keep them coming friend Wolfgang! ;-)

Today, with the outstanding skills of my friend Jos, I was able to complete the landscaping. The only thing missing is my aloe vera plants, which I put at the very end.

More bushes and shrubs were planted, the Italian poplar, which Ltd. Chard outlined in his report to Queen Victoria is used. Several umbrella acacias, as they are typical for the area of Rorke`s Drift, have found their place. You can still see them today at the original location.

The trenches by the orchard and the drainage ditch to the south were designed with bushes, shrubs and weeds!
The area between the kraals was finished.
The piles of firewood by the stoves were designed.

The area between the barricades and buildings was completely greened.

Everything has to dry now, tomorrow I can vacuum the remaining grasses. Then finally I can begin to insert all the character scenes. That is always the best thing about building a diorama!

Thank you @all! :-D

Yesterday i was able to deploy the first British behind the barricades in the diorama.

Surgeon Reynolds with his dog is already installed in front of the storehouse's veranda, plus the evacuation scenes. The figure of Trooper Hunter from the Natal Mounted Police is missing. Trooper Hunter, a patient in the hospital, was stabbed to death by a Zulu with the asegai just as he was stepping out of the hospital window. This Zulu warrior was immediately shot by the riflemen behind the biscuit box barricade. But unfortunately it was too late for Trooper Hunter.
The figure of the trooper of the Natal Mounted Police was kindly modeled for the diorama by Massimo Costa.

I still have to insert about 80 British figures into the diorama, then the barricades will also be quite crowded. Then it's the turn of the Zulu warriors, who will then be coordinated with the British defenders. There are also many duels within the perimeter.
