Some inaccuracies as usual... I'm running out of suitable Zouave figures (a shame as I'd like to do the 146th New York Volunteers) so I had to use the more modern figures from the Emhar set. Added a bit of glue to disguise the bolt as a lock and it's done. Do more would drop my production rithym... And once mixed with all their shelf mates, they do the job well. At least at my low level of demand.
Now I see that the eagle on the flag is facing backwards. I'm getting clumsy... Even more than before... Oh boy...
Personally, I would remove the eagles. They look very big and the actual real thing is quite small. However, Abe the battle Eagle of a Wisconsin regiment I believe ( I think it died of smoke inhalation from memory) was an actual eagle.
Despite their uniform, these guys are on the side of the Union… I don't think they wandered around much or saw much action wearing that dodgy gray. But I like extravagant and unusual units and this gives me a break from so much blue. Cheers Joan
Hello, These are the Irishmen of the 69th New York Infantry Regiment.
I plan to make more Irish units, like a couple per side. This gives me a chance to push the reality vs. fantasy a bit and make some flamboyant CSA's unit like the Emerald Guards, Sarsfield Southrons or 2nd Tennessee...
I think this will be my last post for a while. Tomorrow I leave for the Canary Islands where I'll be shooting until November. Maybe I can go home some weekend and try to post something I've almost finished, but I'm not sure about…
