Peter wrote:There might be a solution for your problem. Why not adding a clear plastic sheet under the boats and create on them the waterlines. So you take them with the boats where-ever you place them.
Peter thanks for the suggestion. I thought this possibility over.
But what do you think will look more disturbing: a sharp line breaking the surface all around the boat where the plastic sheet is ending, or no rippling at all on a perfectly smooth surface? In the end this idea will look a bit like an ordinary basing system, but transparent.
The idea of most games is all boats and ships are based like all other gaming elements do. That will create a rectangular base, elevated from the water surface for some millimeters. The hight can be reduced to 0,5mm, but the edge will always be clearly visible. My idea was to skip these bases for esthetic reasons.
But let me give it a try and I will show a picture of the result Peter.

Kostis you are right. I have all kinds of poisonous materials to make water, waves, waterfall effects etc. But if my river has waves, the bottoms of the boats and the rudders and poles do not properly touch the surface anymore.
Same with using bases: I can 'lay' my boats down in a base of nice ripples and waves. But then the same ugly result appears at the four edges of the base.
Exactly that is why I made everything as flat as possible.
