DBA Egypt-Army I/22

Posted by Graeme on 08 Jun 2020, 07:07

Very nice army, I like the animal hide shields and the leopard skin clothes on the Nubians. The lion is great and Pharaoh's chariot horses are wonderful. Very nice painting and shading on the skin.

A wonderfully painted and diverse group of figures. I especially liked the camp stand. You have been busy!!

The whole army is tied very nicely together- how did you do the sand on the bases?

I love the mini-dioramas you have on some of the bases and the Pharaoh's chariot trampling upon the remnants of civilizations past is fantastic, it's just a very nicely done army, it all looks great and cohesive, I love everything about it!

I am just bowled over by this one. Excellent work all around that just came together. Looks like you really enjoyed putting it altogether and it shows in the project.

Thank you Owen, for the nice words on my figs and bases. It is everytime another trial and sometimes error... :-D

I use products from https://ak-interactive.com/product-category/textures-dioramas/dioramas-textures/

In this case:

For me this is pretty easy and for the bases of the DBA figs it is ok like this. One can do a lot of stuff with the AK Range but not on such small parts I think. They have also snow, as you can see here:

or mud

Wow, thanks for the AK interactive notes, I didn't even know these existed, I'll definitely get some of the water effects!

Snow - I just use baking soda, looks shiny and snow-like.

Hello Jan,
you were really hard-working to recruit your Egyptian army ...
The figures are set beautiful in scene and they are very clean and clearly painted.
I like your work very, very well!

Hello Egbert,
since my work is quite humble compared to yours, I am really touched that you wrote so nicely.
Thank you!

Oh, wonderful army! Ancients are always nice to see, ancient Egyptians are among the finest, and they're even more impressive with mummies :yeah:
I think your example will help me to finish my own Egyptians... the archers are finished for some times, but I'm stuck in the chariots, I find them difficult to paint.
Interesting skin shades on all of them, and a very nice touch to add a camp and civilian figures.
And last but not least, the lion is very impressive!!

PS: I think your army miss a scribe

Thanks Phil,

the chariots have been an obsticle for me as well - as is the shieldwall of the campright now. But just start and you will find a way. In the Books I have mentioned, I have found a lot of helpful pics.

and yes!! you are right I will paint one scribe for the camp!! :-D :-D :yeah: :yeah:

Now I can finish the show here: These are the last three bases of spearmen (3Bd) that was missing to the DBA army I/22a.

Now I have to deal with the battlefield, which is another story.
