Thank you!
It was a damn close call, as Wellington used to say!
Tuesday afternoon I was finally able to transport the Rorke's Drift diorama from my workroom in my son's basement to the outside. The diorama should not have been a few centimeters larger for the basement stairs, it was truly a feat of strength. There was some damage to the diorama bezel, I'll have to apply a new coat of paint later.
Since I had placed some figures very close to the edge of the diorama, they inevitably had to break off.
In the basement stairs I later found 12 figures, about 20 shields and about 30 spears. I will be able to repair some figures again, the rest, shields and spears are no problem either. In the transporter, the diorama was well padded with several mattresses and could thus be transported to our museum in Heiligenstadt without an accident.
In the museum, the passageways are oversized, so no more problems. The Rorke`s Drift diorama has found its place next to the Sudan diorama, so same era.
Best regards, Wolfgang
