Italeri No 6065 British & Prussian General Staff

Posted by Beano Boy on 29 Dec 2014, 15:23

After over 10 years this boxed set came to light . Mrs B`s sorting out of all my old stuff recently, has made it possible for me to re-find lots of forgotten lost items, and in minutes now,not endless hours. Although I must admit I was not in the process of trying to find this particular box.

I was in fact looking for these Prussian Cuirassiers that came out in 1996,because I want to convert the figures for another project. However some of the figures are actually in the first box already mentioned. Utterly useless for Waterloo period so I never painted them up,but I did the rest which are shown below.

Now because this is such a repetitive set of figures,I converted one of the Wellington figures into Lieutenant - General Sir Thomas Picton, but his umbrella is missing. ( Not a very good conversion )
I will make another later.Lots of mistakes as is usual with Italeri Sets, and one of mine too, because I put a mustasche on some British Dragoons.By the way my painting skills from way back In The Day ,they were almost as bad as they are now. BB

As Peter said, some closeups would be nice. And those Prussian Cuirassiers would make good Spanish or Peninsular British Heavy Dragoons ;) At least that's how I plan to use them.

Zirran,I do have some Prussian Cuirassiers painted up,but have not seen them for Donkeys years. I`ll fudge them out for a photo shoot of them, and hopefully post a few here on this Topic.

Below are the figures that I painted over 10 years ago.

There were only 83 on the table,so not much of an army!

Wellington far right_____________General Picton 2nd from the left.
Picton was my first Stove Pipe Hat conversion, and I dare say I could do better now,but I kinda like the old fellow. So finally found,I think he will stay.

I am not surprised you didn't paint any more Prussians after that lot BB, they have got to be the ugliest figures Italeri have ever produced along with the Prussian dragoons which also have the ugliest so called horses on the planet. I really can't understand how Italeri ever had the nerve to put these figures into production surely they could see how bad they are compared to their other figures .

I have to agree with my friend blucher about the figures. They are all unsuitable for the conversions I had in mind.Far to many useless poses. Never mind there will be others to make up along the dusty roadway`s of this hobby. Those figures below were the first that I painted yonk`s ago.At that time although having no eye and hand cordination the paint eventually went on.
I am so glad I did not give up.

I played around with the first picture above.
