ESCI French Cuirassiers

Not the nicest figures in the world but I've seen worse. Good practice for Zvezda set. I hope I'll paint them better than this one.

Coincidentally, I'm painting a pile of Newline French cuirassiers at the moment.

I need tons of cuirassiers for our Show game of Ligny in August.

Nice painted...This is set that was republished as Italer's set, I think...Sculpting is good, only problem is size...
They look like 10 years old kids compared to Zvezda sets that are big as bears compare to them...

Seeing the horse's neck, it appears that you have some problem with washes, as it doesn't dry as it should. What brand do you use?

Also, did the paint chip, or it seems only on the photos like that?

Nice painting by the way, don't be so harsh on yourself I'm curious to see how your Zvezda Cuirassiers will turn out, as I have two boxes of them (as well as two boxes of Airfix ones, but those are...ehm, not the best, but will serve me well as Spanish Cuirassiers).

Hi Tamas... I make my own wash... if you're talking about 2nd photo (large close up) it isn't wash problem but that is highlight under wash (I experimented a bit). Pain't doesn't chip too much but it is possible. Some details may be revealed under larger magnification.

I like these Dalibor,and the way you`ve painted them is brilliant in my eyes. If I could do half as good I would be Well Chuffed! ( Means Extra Pleased! " ) I can remember 1986 when this set was all there was on the market, and glad I was to have them. So I did a few boxes which were some of my first efforts at finger painting , and having no reins was a real big problem for me too. Compaired with the AIRFIX Cuirassiers I bought that went no where except in the Bin,these were an Epic Gallop in the right modelling direction. BB

@Kekso Well you know here at my place, on competition in Belgrade, almost 90 percent of judges only do airplanes and tanks...They never did one 1-72 diorama...BUT they act as if they know everything about 72 scale...
Than again I asked one of them my good friend have he done one diorama or painted 72 scale figure, he said he didn't...So I asked him ,,How can you judge about it when you never have done it...''
Now I don't mean here...Here people can make a good point since they do 1-72 figures dioramas...I just wanted to make point how here at my place standards are as if you ask cardiologist about brain surgery...So I don't get so attracted to every detail since...I know how it is to do it...

@Kekso Also when I first saw on net figures in 1-72 how they were beautifully painted it made me so happy...
I made me also to whish I want to paint figures as that...So that is the point, making our self happy and other happy...

Good work Dalibor! This was my first ESCI kit way back in 1988; they bring back fond memories of returning to the hobby after my school years had ended.

I asked about the chipping because for soft-plastic 1:72 minis I use PlastiDip spray, which is essential when painting an army for tabletop gaming.

i think they are good. Better than Zvezda because zvezda curaisers are very big.

i thought recently to buy zvezda's curaisers, but when i saw that photo, i bought a call to arms' curaissers and caribiniers.

If you put them together the difference is big....

@Von Moltke Some Zvezda sets are amazing, others are amazing, but difficult to paint...For example, I find Zvezda Russian Hussars easy to paint, but Zvezda French Voltigeur Elite infantry has one problematic detail for painting...The belts...They are very little separate and raised from rest of the uniform...I had difficulties with that set some 6 years ago...Don't know how would I do it now...

Very nice. As Paul (BB) I remember when these came out. And they didn't fit very well with the Airfix-set I had since I was a kid. These were much much better. Your painting? I'll left mine in the hobby room a while longer!
