Posted by Arekmaximus on 03 May 2015, 21:04

I would like to present my diorama (made of autumn 2014 - spring 2015) where The Romans met with the Carthaginians.
The center of the battle:
Left: in the first line of Carthaginian infantry (Swordsmen and Spearmen), in the second Javelineers.
Right: Roman infantry in a traditional setting; The hastati in the first line, in the second the principes, in the third the triarii.
When for battle enters Carthaginian war elephant (under the protection of African Light Infantry) triarii line the setting changes to secure the flank of its main strength. The first to be sent light infantry (Velites).
Meanwhile, the Roman cavalry branch of the surprise hits to the back of the Carthaginians …
In the background damaged aqueduct.

Used sets:
Carthagenian Infantry (ZVEZDA 8010)
Republican Rome Infantry (ZVEZDA 8034)
War Elephants (ZVEZDA 8011)
Roman Cavalry (ITALERI 6028)

Very nice! A good paintjob, and the idea with the damaged aquaeduct is really original. By the way, what materials did you use for making it?

Aqueduct built of gypsum (cast components in silicone molds and carved in gypsum blocks). All elements reinforced with metal wire and glued. Additionally sand, stones, grass, glue, Vallejo Still Water + Water Texture ...

Hi Arekmaximus,

I like your ancients very much ! Not only the scenery, but also the small details such as the spears attached to the back of the tower - don't know if it is accurate but it is very lively and nicely done !
