Hi,
I tried something unconventional for the appearance of this new Confederate unit.
Some of the units raised by the Southern States were clothed with their own State uniforms, which sometimes were quite different from the traditional grey that we have in mind when thinking about how a confederate soldier should look like.
I found references of at least three different regiments wearing a version of the US Army M1839 forage cap, with grey jacket, butternut trousers and white webbing for NCO’s and officers: the Arkansas volunteers, the North Caroline volunteers and 9th Kentucky Infantry (Logan’s Grays). I picked the 3th North Caroline because the flag was nice, different and easy to paint.
I didn’t wanted to paint all the same, so I mixed them with some figures wearing a more traditional aspect; but trying to keep the unusual look for the whole unit, I’ve painted some of the kepi’s in light blue (like the Confederate infantry parade uniform).
Figures are from Imex, Acta, Revell and Esci Confederate Infantry set, plus Imex Alamo defenders and Mexican-US war American Infantry.
I hope you like them and many thanks for stopping by…
