….Siege of Cairo 1946....
Hello,
the huge "Landkreuzer" or "Ratte" (Rat) is one of my favourite "what if" subjects. Now I managed to build and paint one of Modelcollects new 1/72 Landcruisers, together with the "Weapon Extension Set", to get more AA-guns, rockets and stuff….
I decided to do an "Africa 1946 Scenario". The vehicle is fictive, why not also the theatre of war...
The small vehicle in front of the Landcruiser is a mixture of a Porsche "Jaguarundi" from Pegasus with a "Kugelblitz"-turret provided with the weapons-set for the Ratte.
Figures are from different manufacturers and I think I don´t have to write much about it. I added DAK-Colors and new collar Insignia for landcruiser crews in Africa. Some of the men wear modified "Leibermuster" camo tunics in desert colors.
The model was quite easy to build (even there were thousands of parts) excluding the tracks. These are of poor quality and they do not fit together very well. There are over 1000 single track parts….and building these were a pain in the a....
Finally I used spray glue to fit the chains over the suspension wheels.
I also did quite a lot of extra detailing work by using my "Grabbelkiste" (spare part box).
I decided a "Feuerpause" (cease fire) Scene. All the figures are in quite relaxed poses….drinking, eating, chatting, playing cards…..
Hope you enjoy it.
Best regards from Bavaria
