2e Carabiniers, sous-officier Trompette

Posted by Bendy_Straw on 07 Jul 2022, 15:13

Hello to everyone. This is a special figure I converted because the uniform has my two favourite things: a bearskin and a cuirass. I had to sacrifice the body of the only cuirassier officer, replace his head and arm, the sword because it would just be the hilt otherwise, some badly done custom turnbacks, some wire for the reins, and the rolled cloak on the horse to be accurate, but it was all worth it. I hope you like this one and I'm still not done with my conversion ideas...

Very colourful and a very effective conversion.

I hadn't previously known that French armoured cavalry of the Napoleonic era had trumpeters in cuirasses, so this is something of an education!

I didn't know they wore the cuirass either. Extra credit for all the mods needed to create this figure. Very nicely done Bendy.

That's a really nice conversion and well worth the effort. And it has all the hallmarks of your style, with beautiful painting and great attention to minute detail.

I responded too quickly. After more careful looking I'm seeing all the exquisite details you managed to include. That's impressive! Certainly one of the most unique uniforms from one of the most unique units.

Thank you all very much for the kind words! Also I made a mistake, the wire wasn't used for the reins obviously, but the trumpet rope, since it was cut by replacing the arm.

You blended in that cord nicely. I noticed there were no reins and figured you meant the bugle cord yet it conformed to the body just like the Zvezda Cuirassier figure (I just painted 8 of the buggers so I know them well). It those things you can hide that tell the tale of just how good of a job you did of it. You hid it very well.

They built and painted a very nice figure there. I think that was a very complex painting that they did very well.

A really wonderful figure. I'm not sure I'd have the patience or dedication to replicate what you've managed!
