Brunswick Oels

Posted by Bill Slavin on 17 Aug 2024, 14:46

Hi all,
Catching up on posting some of the last few months work as the forum sems to be back in my computer's good books. These guys are the Black Brunswickers, which fought with Wellington's army in the Peninsular War from 1811 onwards. They have an interesting history and I was always eager to incorporate them, but didn't like the 1/72 figures on offer. I finally converted my own from Emhar British!

There are more photos and a bit on their history here on my blog, if you are interested, as well as a few more photos.

Fantastic Brunswickers, Bill, as well as their story in your blog. They are proof that with a bit of conversion (in this case new heads) and a good paintjob, some well-chosen original figures can be turned into very different ones that are just what you want them to be.

Nice "Owls". The use of dark grey paint in place of black paint was a good decision.

Agree with Santi and Donald. Some time ago (late 80s/early 90s) I painted some frenchies (should have been ESCI) as Brunswickers. Did use black thogh. And it was not that good idea.

Excellent painted figures Bill! And I like the conversions.
I remember I've painted some of the Hat figures and I used Revell tank grey color for the uniforms. Now I would paint them black and use a light grey drybrush like I did for my plague doctor from Speira. ;-)
