Zvezda 2020 - 2023

Posted by Mr_White on 14 Dec 2021, 21:52

New to the forums.

What are the chances Zvezda reprint some of their other 1/72 sets? (Looking for the English Infantry HYW box) Are they strictly WWII and vehicles now? What's the story with this company?

Hi Mr White and welcome to this great place.

After the passing of the original company boss, the new Zvezda managment decided for irrational reasons to discontinue the extremely popular 1/72 big box series and to develop only new AoT minisets from then on.
Since then, the old 8000 sets have continued to be part of the catalogue, but only in limited numbers. This means that every year some of these "classics" are re-released, while others are temporarily discontinued.
Revell used to do this in a similar way, and so does Italeri to some extent.
So for almost 10 years now, the actual newly developed 1/72 releases have been AoT sets and the vehicle range.
Hope this helps?

So, the English Hundred Years War boxes might see another print run?

Nobody really knows, I would say. Maybe it is a good idea to write to Zvezda directly. This might keep up the pressure of the costumers.

The 100 years war, infantry for all collectors are pretty cool.

The French Old Guard, are a must for massed columns and are most beautiful indeed.

What is rather unusual you actually get what is seen on the Box Art. BB

The way of it all with Zvezda, is you pay now much more for a lot less in their boxes.
The old big boxed sets were great if you bought them. i saw the writing upon the wall before they discontinued with those sets, and even mentioned it on this forum well before it was put into practice.

i indeed bought lots for my use well before the ending of them came into being. BB

I am also looking for another box of the English 100 Years War figures as well. A lot of good bowmen inside.

I'm just glad they're in production again. They've been very hard to find, second-hand.

What do you guys think of the Zvezda European Thatched House? Good for HYW and 1/72 fantasy? Anyone actually use it? Got pics?

Looking at a pdf of the 2022 catalogue - sorry, I don't have a link - it looks like they have a very full catalogue of the 8000 range, more than the ones you've listed, or am I reading it wrong?

Steve,
Zvezda is re-releasing the above mentioned sets this year, in return other sets will be dropped from their permanent 1/72 figure selection.

They permanently offer a limited selection of their classic 8000 range, but each year some sets are added while others go out of production again.

Hope this helps?

Edith says:
According to the catalogue, the purple higlighted sets are "limited editions" and are therefore probably in the process of being discontinued again.

Which ones are highlighted purple and therefore likely to be discontinued? I'd rather buy them now for a future project rather than have to fork out on ebay later on...

Rich,
in addition to this year's re-releases (see above), 14 other sets of the popular 8000 range are highlighted in purple.

8016 - Livonian Knights
8022 - Nap. Russian Foot Artillery
8028 - Nap. French Foot Artillery
8038 - Republican Roman Cavalry III-II BC
8039 - Russian Mounted Knights XIII-XIV AD
8040 - Russian Strelets Infantry XVI-XVII AD
8054 - Turkish Cavalry XVII AD
8055 - Nap. Russian Hussars
8062 - Russian Foot Warriors XIII-XIV AD
8065 - Russian Noble Cavalry XV-XVII AD
8069 - Scythian Cavalry
8077 - WWII Soviet Infantry
8078 - WWII German Infantry
8516 - Medieval Trebuchet

However, its my personal view that this year's "new re-releases" will not go straight out of production again, but will at least be continued until the next catalogue.
Maybe the catalogue designers just didn't want to add an extra reference colour for the re-releases, since they are already using 3 colours (red, yellow & purple) indicating different specifics about the respective kits & sets ... . ;-) :xd:

On a further note, I don't think "panic-buying" is really necessary.
Its more than likely that all 8000 sets will continue to rotate in the forthcoming catalogues.
Everything that goes out of production will be available again at some point in the future. ;-)

Hope this helps?
