A Napoleonic Suprise Around the Corner

Posted by Beano Boy on 17 Feb 2015, 20:30

Set during the Hundreds Days Campain.

With no Pickets posted, the French detachment await the arrival of their own Cavalry & Young Guard, and a Limber to take away the captured British Gun. So the sound of marching feet is very welcome to their ears.

However these marching feet belong to Nassau Grenadiers now fighting on the side of the Anglo Allies.

All painted in the year 2000. I`ll try and find the Hat Young Guard in the Collection. BB

Heres another Surprise around the corner. While looking for the Young Guard I came across Napoleon.

He don`t look to pleased.P`d Off comes to mind.Perhaps after a slug of what`s in the bottle the Mamluk is popping,he might cheer up and even raise a smile. BB

I think Nappie is a blit p'd off because the mameluk is serving something unflavoured grey wine and is also unpainted! I mean, who wants an unpainted servant???

You are right Gunnar,I had only just found the Mamluk ,and so had not painted him.
In my eyes there`s more to this fellow than what one would first expect. I thought myself he was opening a bottle of wine, but no he is reaching into a bag ,and he is wearing riding gloves. So if he were a servent, are these Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwidges he`s reaching for? I have heard Boney was rather found of them while on campaign. No. There are more servents in the box,so he is a serving Mamluk from the squadron attached to the 1st Regiment of Chasseurs a Cheval of the Guard with a secret dispatch for the good old Emp!

Image Camera far to close to my painting.

The dispatch message read "EMP, Help coming. Beano Boy is opening another box."

Hi BB

Again, another nice little scene. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the model houses are very nice.

Regards,
Karl.

Agree with Karl about the houses! My guess is that you've got French Grenadiers from ESCI (in an Italeri-box). Not much guessing, have the figures. :-D

Thanks Karl & Gunnar, for the comments regarding my little cottages. They are so easy to make from paper card.

MMMMMMM! Another surprise a fellow from the 95th Rifles showing the French Grenadier how to get 3 shots a minute. As well as being an unpainted traitor, for a Rifleman quite impossible to load with a mallet and obtain three shots a minute anyway. However he is standing up very well in size & scale with this 30 yearold French Grenadier produced first by ESCI,whose breath smells strangely odd like that of a peanut & jelly sandwidge. Did this fellow have a nibble on Boney`s lunch?

Image

( There is a secret stash of something slightly visible in the top left hand corner. )

Yes out of the Italeri box,and the first daylight these poor cheap plastic eyeballs have seen in nearly a decade. I remember turning many unwanted poses into casualties taking a hit from Artillery or musket volley fire. In those days I fixed strap`s to the muskets a mistake I know,I now just paint them on flat these days.

Image

So it seem`s likely Napoleon has lost his Favourite Lunch ,and scratching his head in Share Wonderment,he`s not please. Strelets has gone and lost his Hat too. Not Good! Not Good at all. BB
