1/72 Revell - German Infantry (IMG&Link Review)

Posted by Panzer_Grenadire on 27 Feb 2015, 10:23

Revell’s “German Infantry” is certainly one of the most popular 1/72 mass-production sets in the field, occupying a special place in the hearts of elder hobbyists. Issued in 1990, for more than 15 years the set had stood as the only soft plastic choice in terms of winter WWII Germans and might be considered one of the best Revell releases.

Obviously, for the first time I painted this set at the beginning of 90’s, but the figs here presented are finished at my nowadays standards. The conversions are done in that far period, but rather than binning, mostly because of the sentimental value, I decided to repaint them.

The review and a large number of images, including close-ups for all poses and other stuff of interest are displayed at this link:

Remembering me a period when I often preferred to purchase and paint a set or kit than going out with my girlfriend (things have not much changed even nowadays, only the status), and thinking I was not the only one in that situation, I would like to dedicate this review to hobbysts’ girlfriends and wives, which have to endure us and live tally with our plastic mistress.

Very cool pea-dot camo. What a pity the sculpting on the faces is so bad. Love the conversions.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like the pea-dot camo, I also like it as well as the oak leaf on the sniper...:) Nevertheless, I like and the rest, but those are my favourite and again the oak leaf on the MG42 loader (not clearly displayed here, but on the the website it is better presented....:)

Great camo paintjob Cristian :-D , as always. But I have only one technical objection about converted sniper with Feldmutze - he's wearing m 42 winter suit in... summer Platanentarnung. I've seen m 42 parkas in camos such as: Eichenlaubmuster /Oakleaf, Rauchtarnmuster/Blurred Edge and Erbsentarnmuster/Tupfentarnmuster/Pea Dot 44. I think that Platanentarnung hasn't been used to produce them, but if I'm wrong please correct me :)

Sorry for the late reply Peter, but I had travelled quite much abroad these days...:)

Thank you very much for the message and I perfectly understand you, it also took me a lot to start repainting them after 20 years...:)

Kind thanks for your message and as far as I remember, I saw also them in Plane Tree, too... :-D I have to search my images for it... Anyway, that garment featured almost all SS camo, but I did not see any in Palm Tree pattern..:)
