Cromwell

Here is a project which I realised in our vacations in Normady. After painting US troops last year, I started with some Brits now. I was far from finishing all that I would like to have, but I managed the Airfix Cromwell 11th Armoured Divison and some of the HäT British Tank Riders. But the Cromwell is 1/76 so the figures are far to big. So I have to build a Armourfast Cromwell to add them on top. I hope you like them. It was fun to build and paint. Only the research for the correct colour of the tank was difficult. But the Airfix set is nice in my oppinion.

Splendid effort on the painting Jan. Really Great Looking Tank.
Those figures look fine to me. It will be interesting to see the comparison with the 1/72 scale Tank. The 1/76 scale figures I compared with 1/72 scale ones looked almost the same height perhaps 1mm difference. However,yes there will be a marked difference when viewing the two Tanks together.

In wargaming I freely mix 1/72 with 1/76th scales but I can see it might be an issue in dioramas.

Thanks for the nice words, again. I am also very keen on the outcome of the comparison. First I have to finish the Crusader-Tanks and then to Crusader Knights and then I will start with the Cromwell. I keep you informed!

When I saw the title, I thought this was a topic about the war of the roses, then I read something about crusader Knights, so middle ages. But no! It's a tank with some figures on it!

Okay, it's an excellent painted tank with great weathering. Also the figures are great, and fit well on the tank! Keep them coming, those iron horses with nice Knights on them , Jan!

The airfix model doesn't look that small, to my opinion it can do the job, anyway, great little scene !

I'm looking at Cromwell tank, and I remember some words of one of Polish tank crew man. He said, that troops don't liked riding on this tank. It was fast, but not confotable as Sherman. It's very nice painted, but before setup dioram, I think you must remember, that if tank is going, nobody put legs so close tracks.

You have found an interesting picture. And you are right concerning the tracks. But my idea was a waiting tank with an officer talking to the commander while observing the area. Maybe this not well represented in the pictures.

It just suggestions. When you wrote your intention, everything is right. I'll be waiting for the next photo, and the final, cause I have plan to made Polish soldiers on Sherman III in Italy. Could you tell me: Which paints did you use for the these Hat figures?

I used Vallejo colours for the British Tankriders. Polish Soldiers in Italy is interesting two. Did they come with the British forces from North Africa?

Yes. They came from Russian prisons to Iran, after training in Liban and Palestina. They were in fight for example in Tobruk, and later in Italy final attack on Monte Cassino, Bolonia... and more. As the journalist I made some reviews with soldiers. They said many nice world about Thompson gun, Jeep Willys and Italian young women What numebr of Vallejo are yoy using for Brittish uniforms? I wonder, cause the colours of uniforms at II WW makes problems. Just in song, I'm still looking for...

Yes. There is a noticeable difference in size/proportion between 1/72 and 1/76 scales. Cromwell looks fantastic...love the painting and weathering on it. Those Hat tank riders look marvelous too. We'll done.

I have been looking for the Hat German Tank Riders,but have had no luck as yet. I did manage to find a box in the USA,but they wanted over £10.00 for it and nearly £30 Shipping Costs. "Dream on." i thought. BB

Interesting because the turret looks quite big. Maybe a conversion?
