StuH 42 105mm

Posted by panzerman on 20 Oct 2015, 10:26

Greetings fellow miniature enthusiasts,
Humbly submitted is my latest model build. It's an old ESCI 1/72 kit of a Stug, configured as a 105mm infantry support tank.
Image
Replaced old tracks with CMK items. Added the applique/ bolted on armor. Also added the concrete reinforcement to glacis. Drilled out the barrel.
Image
Cut open loader's hatch and made new, open positioned hatches. Added antennas made out of thin gauge wire. Added stowage rack to rear engine deck. Added stowage items.
Image
All molded on tank tools were scraped off and scratcnbuilt ones made. Schutzen rails reworked. New, thinner Schutzen shields were made out of sheet styrene. Engine intake screens added...made out of brass mesh.
Image
Figures are from Preiser. MG34 barrel drilled out. Gasket added to gun/casement gap. Gunner's periscope added to roof.
Image
Tank and figures painted with Vallejo acrylics. Base is Styrofoam covered with wood putty and Woodland Scenics products. Twigs, lichen, and moss also used.
Thanks for viewing. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Bill.

Very nice, but tracks could be put much more in grass and ground. Still I'm thinking about painting antennas in wehrmacht camo base colour...

Panzerman strikes again! Thank goodness. Well this scene is a little smaller than some of your projects but no less spectacular. Your ability to capture minute details is terrific. Fantastic job.
