A little peek

Posted by FredG on 04 Feb 2016, 18:27

I've been a member here for a few years. I've not done much painting but this winter I have actually managed to make a start on the boxes I amassed. I've been enjoying painting the horses. The charge (Or was it a fast walk?) of the Royal Scots Greys certainly provided some practice on grey horses. Therefore as a first posting I thought I'd choose someone on foot.

I think I'm improving with every session. I'm looking forward to being half decent

Hello at Bennos. And thank for sharing your work with us. I would like to say that a washing of your figure might be an improvement. But do not forget to share the Scots Grey when they are ready... :yeah:

That is one neatly painted figure. I hope we won't wait too long to see some more of your work.

Nice start, and a good choice of colours too.

Thank you for the welcome.

As for the wash, I agree it would look better in a photograph but would it look better to me with my old eyes when it's in a display case?
The Scots Greys are done and in the case. They were intended to be en masse so perhaps the detailing isn't so crisp.

They are one set of Esci and 3 sets of A-Toys Action.

I would like to see some close pictures of the Scots Greys. ;-)

The standing figure looks good, but as Dalibor says, a wash could help. ;-)

Yes, welcome to the forum. That figure is definitely 20mm. Please continue to post pic's as your collection expands. A wash of GW Citadel Agrax Earthshade just around the face and hands will do wonders!

Taking advice from here I've used a sepia wash on a couple of figures. I must admit I don't see much of a difference in the French Artillery Officer. The Dragoon General on the other hand, possibly due to the lighter uniform , does show a little difference. That is in the photo or under high magnification. To my normal eyesight no difference at all.
