Cushing's picket boat

This is my last work. The figures are slight modifications of the originals. The boat is scratchbuilt. The most difficult part was to persuade my little daughter to donate the piece of wood she found at Sougia beach in South Crete.

Very nice! The boat is splendid indeed, but I also like your figures. I am a shameless mixer myself; I like to scramble figures from vastly different manufacturers together and to see how they blend into the overall scene. So I'm really pleased to see this nice assembly of guys from different brands!

Very nice little scene. What did you use to simulate the water?

Thank you for the comment. I poured a thin layer of Pebeo's crystal resin tinted with 2 drops of Pebeo's Vitrail turqoise ( 17 ), in a silikon mold. Then I made a carton mold of the pieces I wanted, so I could cut them from my transparent copy. The waves are cotton and transparent silikon.

Painting is perfect.
I am especially fascinated by the machinery and steam engine.
Do you have a work in progress picture of these machines?
I am very curious if you used parts of other models or if you constructed everything yourself.

I need to say how great your photography is: very bright, very sharp,
This shows how well a dark background can work: all attention goes to the model.

Mr. Cryns first of all I started with a boat from Billing boats brand, which I extended after cutting it, in the middle. The boiler are 2 parts from differend thickness xActo handles, the thinner to be indentical to the one in the photo. The funnel is a piece I found in a brand of shoes. ( It was purposed to help with the leather cords ). As far for the engine I did my best to match the plans I download from the web.

Thanks for the response regarding the simulated water. Your technique has succeeded to achieve a nice effect.

I did not realize how many of the components are scratch built. This is a very involved project. Thanks for sharing your work.
