DDS. Der Herr und die Dame. WW1.

Posted by Eugenij on 25 Jan 2016, 16:40

Hallo, guys! A while ago, my friend asked me to paint DDS kit "Pilots of the First World War". In my mind, it's not very good kit. Its creators made spectacular characters, but sculpting quality is rough, and quality of casting is very bad too.. Despite it, I like some figures. Especially, i like lady and german officer. I made only one foto. I hope you like these figures, too :-)

Hi Eugenij, that is some paint work

Now a bit of advice:

when you post image link, remove letter "t" from it and you'll get larger pictures.

Surprising to see Konrad is posting his painted pilots next to those of Eugenij.
Konrads painting work is excellent! My compliments for this.
But Eugenij's work is even better: incredibly good!
To my opinion this has to do with color, lining and line-shading.
While Konrad is using colors looking like coming straight out of the flask (which might not be true at all), Eugenij is mixing pastel shades (probably by adding different quantities of white to a basic color) which often seem to come closer to reality.
I don't know what these figures look like without paint, but Eugenij's work makes clear how much can be achieved by adding more details to the basic shape of a figure only by painting.

Thanks for your objective and fair comment,Mr.Cryns. :-D :yeah:

There are apparently no real borders in our hobby.
But some things are really unbelievable.
From Valentina Kostina.1:72!!!!

Yes Konrad, I know these crazy Czarina's: probably the best paintingwork I have ever seen too.
Its work from one of those talented Russian artist again!

But now keep in mind my Napoleonic armies contain 3500 painted 1/72's and my ancient armies 2400 figures. How many lives would I need to make this Czarina painting style the standard for those armies?

Yes, Mr. Cryns! Unfortunately, we must always make some choice between quality and quantity... Early I collected big armies, and I tried to make them in the high painting quality. But later, I understand it's unreally. :(

"Die Dame" is great painted too.
I use "Die Dame" two time. One for an Narvik 1940 Dio and on for an African Dio.
And your painting showe me that i oversee two small details both times !

And yes the quality of casting can get an improvement.
