Where is the trumpeter from?

This topic makes me happy for two reasons. You posted something of yours after so long time (although I know you're not lazy ) and you did excellent job on those poor figures. I recently painted that set so I know what you have been trough while painting Trumpeter is an extra touch that I like the most.

Nice figs, Kurt This set was possibly the first 1/72 scale plastic figures I painted. Needless to say, they didn't quite look as good as these...

I painted some Italeri versions of Prussian dragoons last year and I like your figures better,. I quibbled over what sort of blue I should use (I see lots of different interpretations around). I think you've got the shade I was after - so I've got to ask - what colour did you use for the coats?

So the trumpeter is some kind of conversion, but where from?

The photo is a little dark, maybe because of the dark background. I looked there figures up on PSR and you have done a great job with some not-so-great figures.

@Peter, Marvin- the trumpeter has the arm of the bugler from the ESCI "Russian Granadiers" and a head-swap from the HaT Prussian artillery; otherwise it's the dragoon pose with his sword pointed down. The officer is a HaT Russian dragoon with a head-swap from the Prussian Reserve Infantry.

@Dali- Lots of mold lines on these guys, that's for sure. But luckily all ten fingers survived the prep period!

@Marvin- I used Americana acrylic paint from the local craft store. Mostly 'true blue', with small additions of 'primary blue' and 'titanium white' till I got the shade I liked. I finished with a dark wash which I think helped a lot.

@Davbenbak--Guilty as charged. My pics are either too dark taken inside or too light outside, and they never translate well from the camera to the photobucket library. One of these days I'll get the knack...

Well done Kurt! Nice to see that old set painted up even though there are some rather odd poses included!!!
I bought this set knowing what they looked like thanks to PSR, and guess what...they were as bad as they were made out to be. I think the body/torso poses could pass ok but the heads and the shakos let them down. Anyway you did a very nice job on these. Really like the red stripe on the saddle cover. Well done sir!

I agree with Kekso but, though you mention it yourself, I also like to mention the flat officers cap which is very typical for this army but missing in many sets. So a great detail added by your hand Vellek! And there is not much wrong with poor sculpted figures when they are painted well like these.

Very good, Kurt. I have painted them as well but the conversions of the bugler and officer are toping these old guys of plastic world.
