Pallas Athena and he heroes of Greece

Posted by Ben90 on 03 May 2016, 16:00

At first I want to thank every participant for a great competition. It was my first one and it was great fun!

So here is my entry (some more pictures). Athena is made completely by myself (helmet is from Zvezda´s Greek infantry). The Hoplites are conversions, as you can see on the last pictures below: White, green and brown are the self-made parts. The dead Persians ar some conversions of the Zvezda ones. The base is self-made as well from A+B epoxy putty.

Hope you´ll like it!

I'm speachless! When I received this entry (it was the first one for this competition), I loved it from the very first moment I saw it. But now with these extra pictures I even love it more!

Congrats on a well deserved win Ben! And thanks for taking part on my little show! :-D

I hope you will defend your brush in the next competition! ;-)

Bloodiest Dio all of the time? :o
It is very good that we can see the conversion of the figures.
A lot of work and skill is in each figure.
I like the combination of self made and exsisting parts as the great done idea of the base.
The survivor to the left look to the two not so lucky ones. Well painting of the eyes.
Yes, and the painting overall is very nice.
Congratulations to your win too. :-D

Thanks so much for the WIP shots. They are fascinating to study. I agree with the request for a tutorial on working with green stuff. I try to make cool shapes and features like you have done, but they end up as blobs with thumprints all over them. :)

I can't say that those are conversions since you made most of figures parts from scratch. And you did wonderful job there as with composition and painting too. But I didn't voted for you since I knew you would win even without my vote :xd: :xd: :xd:

Dear Ben,

Thank you so much for making this dio and showing us your WIP's.
What you show is exactly where my interest is going at the moment.
Greek & Persians. But also making figures that don't exist yet.
Your work gives me clues about possibilities.
Very inspiring to see how you combine conversion and sculpting.
I did not realize that when I saw your finished dio.
You encourage me a lot with your work!

4 Athena

i noticed the guy with one eye, and thought to myself," That could be, or is Philip of Macedon? "

A delightful well worked out piece of painted art. Conversions, are top - notch! :-D BB
