Dear colleagues,
Here I’m, like there it was not more tomorrow days, trying to match the crazy shooting of a TV series with some painting... Well, I’m getting old and I don’t need so much sleeping but, still, I’ll have to slow down my postings, work goes first…
I’m starting a new DBA project: Marian Roman Army (105BC-47BC). This is the Roman Army that suits for later Republican period, Caesarean conquests and the Civil Wars (Optimates vs Populares, Caesar vs Pompey).
This first bunch is the core of any Roman army, the heavy legionary infantry. 8 x 4Blades bases made with Caesar and Italeri figures. All the Scutum and Pila that you can see are the ones provided by the Caesar set. Because I would like to double them for Civil Wars settings, I’ll use the Italeri Scutums and Pilas on the second group.
Like a curiosity, some of the Italeri figures seem to wear a moustache. I didn’t paint it, because, to my understanding, that is incorrect. At least until the Imperial period when most of the legions were totally made by non-Roman citizens and auxiliaries, and, most probably, the legionaries follow their own culture haircut fashion (hard to believe that a cohort of Batavian legionaries garrisoning a post at the Imperial borders would care to shave their beards daily…)
And that’s all folks, I hope you like them and many thanks for your time.
