Italeri Set 6006 Russian Grenadiers

Posted by Peter on 25 May 2016, 19:42

Here is part 1 of these Russian Grenadiers! More to come I hope!

These weren't easy to paint. The sculpting isn't that good and some flash on bad placed and hard to remove!

Excellent work. While I a very much like your painting I agree that this set is less than fun to work with. Same holds true for the very similar Austrian set.

Thanks Rich!
I just had a look at the Austrians you mention, and you are right. The same pose as these Russians is missing a lot of details to. Most of the straps and belts you have to imagen just like I did for these Russians. And I really love these uniforms but it's a pity the moulds are so bad! :(

Hmm, did I ever buy that set? No, just the Austrians! Very nice to see these! Great work Peter!

Hi Peter, on a table in massed formations these figures would work very well at pleasing any eye that is set upon them. Especially mine. Close up in your face photos are for picky purists that like counting buttons, boot laces, and well dotted tiny i`s. Opp`s A Daisy! i mean eyes. :-D______  !
Looking back at the painting work you`ve done over the past few months after becoming more active again, you my friend are producing some good quality work, and that includes these.
Keep e`m coming, and well done. BB

Agreed, a tough set to paint. I have both them and the Austrians and doubt that I will get any better results than yours. Thanks for posting.

A tricky set for sure but you've tackled them well. :yeah: The end result is impressive with lots of great Nappie colours. Who doesn't love those gold grenadier caps? :-D Think I'll steer clear of them until I'm up for a real challenge! :affraid:

Now I am tempted to dig up my Austrians, but I painted some of them as Frenchies. Colour-sergeants or what they are called.

Peter, I’m working on these figures right now...

You raise the bar very high. I’ll try my best to, one way or another, match your excellent results.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@BB Paul: I agree in a massed fprmation they will look good! And I have to do something when I'm at home whole the time! ;-)

@Dave: You get better results as me! I'm sure about that! ;-)

@Marvin: I hope my next figures look better as these! Not really wild of them how they turned out! ;-)

@Gunnar: A new basecoat and you can start all over again! :-D

@Joan: I'm sure yours will look much better as these I've painted. Question, knowing you, you mostly use more sets. Are there more of these? ;-)

@Dalibor: Not bad are better words for the hat. I will give the next ones a bit more attention! ;-)

Dear Peter… you know me… :-D

As far I know, this is the only set of Pavlosky Grenadiers on the market. But, with some head swap, I turned HAT’s set 1805 Russian Line Infantry into them. Consequently, I’m making a 24 figures grenadier battalion with just one repeated pose. 8)

So, more poses yes. But better looking, I don’t think so…

Warm regards!
