Diorama fortress Rosenberg 1806

Posted by Cryns on 20 Aug 2016, 16:23

Dear Wolfgang,

My congratulations with the finishing of your fortress: In my opinion this is one of the best diorama's ever made by anyone!

Very nice to see the different periods of fortress architecture integrated in one building.
Fascinating to see all those limbers, supply wagons and the fortress artillery.
And very refreshing to see lots of Napoleons artillery and train d' equipage without any shakos but with the bonnets and bicorns like the French used so many years, though we see so little of this headgear among the miniature figures. Until now.

I look forward to see this diorama with my own eyes!

Thank you @ all!

Last weekend I was again in our museum. I had the diorama
"Sheepfarm of Auenhain 1813" transported there.
Here are a few pictures of the fortress Rosenberg!

For all of you who don't know 'Grove Den': that is the one man company of Jos Geurts from Limburg, Netherlands, who became one of the worlds best miniature tree makers during the last few years.

Wolfgang did you meet Jos Geurts already?
Will he be invited at Dioramica 2016?

Masterpiece... I've watched the thread a dozen of times and every time this is the only word I can think of.

BTW, I'm wondering if this excellent diorama is being displayed in a real museum, as the photos seem to be taken in a well conditioned exhibition room.

Hi Wolfgang,
Thank you for the information and... your museum, WOW! :love1:
That's the most enviable thing a modeller could ever imagine. I wish in 2 years I'll have chance to travel back to Europe to pay a visit there.

Best regards,
Chen

I am speechless, how much work you have done to achieve such an impressive diorama of one of my favorite periods. I doesn´t have to be always a war-scene. A scene of the everyday-life can be still more impressive. I hear the birds, the cries of the wagon-crews and their horses. I can smell the summer-air.

Thank you!

The fortress Rosenberg has now also get a beautiful wood paneling.
A part of the general staff, including Napoleon is already installed, now missing only a few figures.

The whole presentation looks extremely well done and professional! - One might say "museum quality", but actually it's better than that. Models and dioramas in museums often look too clean and too simplified, at least IMHO. Only when the makers of a diorama are real modelling enthusiasts, in particular figure modelling, they will have the keen eye for all those life-like details that show up in this work so beautiful.

If you go on this way building diorama's, you soon will need a bigger space! ;-)

Looks fantastic!
