WW1 Austrian Army

In August of every year I re-read Barbara Tuchman's book <The Guns of August>, and this year I've also just finished her book <The Proud Tower>. Both are tremendous representations of the remote yet incredible times before the Great War. Having finished the reading, I sat down in front of the workbench to finish these WW1 figures. Austrian uniforms have a very subtle tune, and I'm not sure if I have got them done correctly here. Any comment will be appreciated.




The photos of the artillery team seem over-exposed, for which the uniform looks more blue than it actually is.

You made masterpiece with not that good HaT figures. Uniforms are very well shaded and skin parts look very realistic to me. Respect.

I like your Austrians Well done! The colour of the uniform is called "Hechtgrau", your tone is right.

Looks really good Chen! I especially like the officer pointing the Luger with the sword. Sword disappeared quite quickly from the battlefield once it became obvious how useless they were and what a target its wearer became.

Nice crisp painting really brings these figures to life. I've also read 'The Guns of August' more than once, but my favorite Tuchman book is 'A Distant Mirror'.

Thanks for your appreciations, mates. For the Hechtgrau I use a mixture of WW2 German Luftwaffe Uniform, Iraqi Sand and Prussian Blue. But in all contemporary printings and coloured photos the uniform appears a light blue-ish grey.

And @Kurt, the book is marked, thanks. I really find reading an important and highly-encouraging element in this hobby. After long periods of laziness I've always been able to get back to painting my figures right after reading a good book.
