About comparing New Line Design with plastics:
The size is never the real problem. People had different lengths and they can always be raised by an extra sheet of base.
The problem with New Line Design figures is they are VERY FAT COMPARED TO THEIR LENGTH. Like the dwarves from Lord of the Rings.
This makes them easy to paint since details become fatter too.
Without combining them with most plastics, I prefer New Line figs because they have realistic non-flat poses. I agree with ToneTW in that. And they are specially designed for gamers. Many poses are lively and both useful for the front ranks and rear ranks/reserves. Often there are different variations in similar poses which is great for making lively realistic and non-uniform units.
