WW2 - Sd.Kfz. 142 in "Attention, take cover!" - DE

Posted by Hellboy on 23 Oct 2016, 17:51

New diorama pictures …

Attention, take cover!

The sun is shining, the sky is cloudless and the birds are chirping. The tank slowly drives over an old wooden bridge under which a little brook ripples. The soldiers enjoy the quiet time. But what was that? A loud cry: "Attention, take cover!!!". Already the first enemy bullets hit the nearby ground. Welcome back to hell ...

Have fun.

Hellboy

Hello Hellboy.
In the b/w pic the soldier scream, Attention! get cover! But there do you place some cover for your Fritz? :-D
You cover a very dynamic situation. Not only that you place the Preiser moving figures nicely it is the angle of the Stug III too. This underline very smart the ACTION scene. I have to "steal" this idea.
This remind me a little for the Panzer III bailing out crew of "Syedlitz troops are in the line".
The jumping rabbit (look very dynamic in the very first pic) is the eyecatcher for all the Busch animals around.
And your water effect is far above my last Dio.
Beside that the steal helmet look a little bit too green instead of Panzergrau into my eye a very typical Hellboy Dio with a very well done presentation and background.
:yeah:

Another remarkable work and presentation..:) I also enjoy how you highlighted the early look of the uniforms, with lighter gray pants...:) In terms of helmets, I agree with Wiking's comment...:)

First of all thanks for the Likes. Many thanks also to Peter, Wiking and Panzer_Grenadire for the friendly comments. As always, I am happy about your kind words.

I am glad that the representation of the river pleases. Unfortunately there is still a sad story to report on the water effect. I'm working on a WW2 submarine port. There I used material from two different manufacturers for water design.
After the first material was completely dried, I wanted to make small waves with the second material ..... The result is that it looks like vanilla pudding. Unfortunately, in the pudding now 4 submarines 'to the throat' inside and the harbor mole also. :( Looks like it's garbage. Is life, sometimes something works out and something goes wrong.

To helmet color. For the helmets I used the color 'German Camo Dark Green' with the number 979 from the color set 'German Infantry Paint Set' from manufacturer 'Flames of War'. In the painting instructions this color is used for the following things: Helmets and painted metal. (? ?)

I had wondered something. Since I myself became unsafe, I had searched the Internet for hints.

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/M35_(Stahlhelm)

"Im Felde war dagegen jede Tarnmöglichkeit auszunutzen, insbesondere die Umlackierung an die jeweilige Umgebungslandschaft."
"In the field was to be used against any riding possibility, in particular the paint to the respective surrounding landscape."

http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Uni ... hlhelm.htm

Here, too, it is described in some places that in the field the slate gray helmets also from the Soldiers were camouflaged. Although green or olive green color was used. (If I have not misunderstood everything ...)

After that I dared to paint it. I've just brightened the color with two more colors. Find the result quite a bit. Is something different.

Promise, I never do it again ... ;-)

But where we are. What colors are you using for the Wehrmacht helmets?

Imaginative scenario with a great looking assault gun and troops.

I think Mr. Rabbit would have hopped it when the Stug first appeared but once again it shows a little humour in what was a serious business.

Great stuff.

You catch up on Stalhelm a lot.

Revell: Geschützgrau, Panzergrau,
Vajello: dark grey, grey for wheels.
Grey, dark grey what I get first into my fingers for paint with some light gray or sometimes not.
No rule! I pass this given system of this color for that or this for that.
I do that several years in the past. A good start but now I mostly use the color what I think that will work for me. Or mix it.
And for Africa, winter I base always with grey and then I paint, drybrush the Africabrown or white color on.

Hi Hellboy,
Your work shown here is tremendous in scale and intensity.
I especially like the Bunny too. :-D

A little advice.
Water effect samples, are well worth doing with untried stuff. BB

Thanks to Chris, Beano Boy and KenzoSato for the other friendly comments. I'm very glad about that! The kind words are always for me a real motivation. :-D

Wiking, thanks for the tip with the colors! :yeah: I'm sure I have these colors too. I'll try it out right away.

Of course you are right, that you have tried new techniques in a small test. Only on this project did it run so incredibly well from the start. I have not even thought of a setback in a dream. I wanted to get ahead with full steam. I believe that is called euphoria ... ;-)

All this is only a few days ago. But I think I had a good idea yesterday. Let's see if it works. If so, then I can give you maybe presents a submarine port soon. We will see....

Hi to Hellboy, and to all the readers viewing this.
When one of my water samples seemed to fail in my eyes it being a large piece of 14 x 12 inches I painted over it instead of throwing it in the bin. I repainted the bottom which of course is the top! Applied my water effect and all turned out well. That was my experience, but being totally blind on the make up of stuff you used of course I cannot recommend you do likewise. I am never a critic upon modelling skill`s I only refer to my own haphazard ettempts , amongst my many tutorials.
However I do like to offer ideas! I therefore wish you complete success with your idea.
Respectfully BB

BB, thank you for your information. That is exactly the idea, which I noticed yesterday. :-D I plan to overpainting the 'pudding' at the weekend. Then I try to rebuild with 'still-water' by the manufacturer Vallejo the water effect. So I have always had good experience.

http://www.vallejo-farben.de/vallejo-water-effects/vallejo-water-effects-still-water-clear-200-ml-VA26230-i.html

However, the 'water level' rises slowly but surely. For the submarines not so bad. But the used rowing boat is the water soon to the 'neck' ;-) ..... we will see.
