Did he get too much ale or did the two vikings drink all of it? Those big questions of life! :-D Very nice painted figures! And their sculptor isn't bad either!

Ecclesia abhorret a sanguine - The church fears the blood. There are always in history bishops and christians, who didn´t forget that....(so Bishops, even if fighting, didn´t use a sword. A kind of hypersophistication, indeed). Very nice figures, splendid painting.

Great figs and nicely painted. :yeah:
Was the bollocking bishop perhaps inspired by this Angus McBride painting? (The monk would seem to confirm it...)

(The character always reminded me of Milo O'Shea/Durand Durand... ;-))

Thanks for the nice comments, made me smile :-)

Yes, the McBride picture was kind of inspiration for me, but this Miles is too "nice" in my opinion. My warriors still are wearing the mjoelnir and are not likely to follow the bishops wishes too often. ;-)

You have some dark fascinations Andi. And I like them a lot, your own variations to old themes. Well done. Nice figures.

And Bilsonius, that is great, its what I always love to do: watching somebody's work, try to understand where he's got his inspiration from and try to trace down his tracks into research and history. For me that's the core business of what it is all about, for both producers and collectors.

If that bishop does not care, he will end being another martyr of Christianity...
So that the "mjoelnir".
The pendant was the same for the Vikings than the old germanic tribes?
I was thinking abouth make a Skjaldmö or a berserker, but more related to the germanic tribes than norse culture.

If clerics fought, they'd use a mace- can't shed blood with an edged weapon but you can wail away with a mace or flail
