The ancient Rom

Posted by praga on 13 Dec 2016, 19:03

Just finished my new Dio. Something roman. The Figures are still missing - i work on them.
The steps are made by Airfix. The pillars on the stairs I had bought somewhere and they lay around here. I scratched the pediment. The temple to left is also scratch built with some prefabricated parts. Here are some pictures from the work and the dio. If it is completely finished with figures I still take some photos.
Regards, Jens Hilgraf

It looks great! I'll be watching for learning how to made the scenography.
Kekso, you really want to see figures. I suppose, someody will die at these stairs... It will be at March...

A fascinating work. It looks very beautiful.
I love the small details and especially your brushwork with lively colors for stone and tiles.

I have no idea what this means:

And you should give us a little more historical background.
What does 'the ancient Rome' mean?
The proportions of this temple look like 5th century BC Roman architecture, much similar to the Etruscans or early Doric Greek. Very few, heavy, short columns with a wide space between each of them which is only possible when the construction on top of the columns is made of WOOD otherwise it would all collapse. Will there be added Roman kingdom or early Roman republic figures from the Classical Greek and Etruscan times?

The building left hand with only 3 columns is very unlikely. Usually there should be at least 4. And why do they miss capitals? Is there any example you uses for building these?

@praga
Very very nice so far.
With pic of the steps what you do.
I like very much your idea how to implant the Airfix European step up to a temple.
And to paint the broken wall black as the frame is also a good idea.
:yeah:

Thank you Wiking.
I don't remember this Airfix item at all. But I do remember your version of them with happy Japanese on colorful painted steps.

So is this a re-issued classic or a recent Airfix item?
