Strelets Native Warriors

Posted by Salaberry on 23 Dec 2016, 16:53

Hi all,

I haven't posted here in ages.
Just thought I'd share the latest work of mine: Strelets War of 1812 Native Warriors, here painted as Mohawks from the SIx Nation Confederacy.

Much improved sculpting: now, if Strelets could improve the moulding, their production would literally come up to the best standrads in the industry.

Comment:
Good painting at all figures.
It is nice that you give the green Native Warrior with his ---> a bowstring.
:-D

Criticism:
The background is the contrast program to the high quality of the paint figure?

Wonderful figures of Strelets which you have painted in an impressive manner - nice details, nice combinations of colours. I can´t wait to see them in a scenery!

Hello,

this set is indeed very nice and the painting is also very nice - love the colors. I understand that you painted them according to some source reflecting authentic colours. Don't hesitate to share such sources - you would make me happy.

Again, bravo for your painting

These are WIP: I will use them in a (yet to be built) diorama, so the quality of the background shall be improved later on. Also, I take all of my pictures outside, and with Winter solstice just over, here in Canada, it's not prime weather to do outdoor photography...

As for the bowstring, I found that trick somewhere on the Internet: a simple, human hair, cut to the proper length.

As for documentation, I mostly use stuff found on the Web.
Glad you enjoyed.

The latest additions: awarrior and a chief wearing a British uniform

Not the greatest figures, admittedly, but they will be filling up background space in my dio, so no matter.
A few weapon swaps and the gun sling were added.

Comments and criticism welcome.

Before anyone buys this set, I humbly suggest they also buy new scalpel blades: the molding process was horrible and thus there is much flash and a few odd "appendices" - plastic blobs - appearing on quite a few of them.
For instance, the chief figure here needed quite a bit of work before I could get to use my brushes.

Other than that, I must applaud Strelets for having hired a new sculptor, and having refined their figures.

ps more to come soon - definitely not great weather over here for photographs: we just received 30 cm of snow in the last 48 hours.

Hi everyone,

Funny that I post this tonight (considering my last post here - see the above) as Montreal is in the midst of a huge snowstorm: we have received over 30 centimeters in the last 8 hours and it is still brewing mad in the teacup as I look out my office window! Expected forecast: between 30 to 45 cm...

Guess I'll have to shovel the car out of the snowbank early tomorrow morning....
Sorry for this "Canadian Winter Interlude Moment".

Anyway, new additions, both Strelets with head swaps:

And a Strelets with an Italeri Head. I admit I quite like the pose:

The accesories were a treat to paint, and provided by Gucci:

And another complete scene for my dio: the game of golf, Amerindian-style, I suppose...

The rubbery golf ball wasn't invented yet so they had to make do with what they had. Poor fellows!
